ABF REsponse To CABC Incorporation
The committee preparing this ABF response has done an excellent analysis and provided a balanced approach. Many thanks!
If incorporation goes through under the current proposal of Council, our Convention will not be recognizable as a Baptist organization. Baptists do not grant authority to conventions to impose doctrine or an interpretation of scripture, or to pass binding resolutions, all of which (and more) are included in the incorporation document's description of "Duties and Rights of Members." None of this is necessary for incorporation to take place.
Perhaps Council needs a refresher course in Baptist polity or at least the application of some common sense...
